Update: Changes to the Age of Dependency to be in force October 24, 2017

The government has announced today that the changes to the age of a dependent child will be in force on October 24, 2017.  Starting on that day, the definition of a dependent child will be as follows: 

  • Children under the age of 22 who are not married and are not in common-law relationships
  • Children above the age of 22 who are financially dependent on their parents because of a physical or mental condition
