We’re so proud of the amazing Olympic athletes and performers who put on such incredible performances the last few weeks! The games have reminded us of the important contribution that athletes and artists make to Canadian society. In order to attract such talent to Canada, there is a relatively unknown immigration program specifically for individuals that are self-employed in these areas. In order to qualify for permanent residence under this program you must:
• Have been competing or taken part in athletics or cultural activities at a world-class level, or be self-employed in athletics or cultural activities.
• Intend to be self-employed in Canada and demonstrate that you can contribute to Canada’s economy through your activities.
• Obtain at least 35 points (out of a possible 100) in a selection criteria that considers your education, experience, age, language ability and adaptability factors.
At Long Mangalji, we have used this program to assist a wide variety of clients, such as athletes and coaches in all sports as well as those in the arts, including those in technological arts such as animators and graphic designers. Applications to this program can often be quite complex as they require a comprehensive plan to demonstrate how the individual will remain self-employed in Canada and be able to contribute to the Canadian economy.
To find out more information about this program and to see if you qualify, feel free to contact us at (416) 548-9101, or at inquiries@www.lmlawgroup.com.
Have a great week and don’t forget to follow us on social media for more news and updates.
Sincerely,
Long Mangalji LLP
