The government has just announced exciting news that students with Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP) may be able to apply to extend their work permits for another 18 months.
Here are the details:
- You must have held a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) that expired on or after January 30, 2020 or hold a valid PGWP that will expire within 4 months from the date of application
- You must be in Canada to apply and either have temporary status or apply to restore your status
- You must apply between January 27, 2021 to July 27, 2021
Allowing students to extend PGWPs will allow students to have more opportunities to gain the work experience or obtain the job offers needed to apply for permanent residence under Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Programs, the RNIP, or AIP.
